A rewarding experience

Have you ever thought about building your own computer ? It sounds Utopian for people who are not major in computing . In fact, it is not too difficult to build a personal computer if we have a manual to do it . In order to build a computer, we need to have mother board , processor , ram, video card, case, power supply , hard drive, optical drive, keyboard, mouse, speakers. Before we do anything inside computer, we always need to ground ourselves , and the easy way to do this is working on grounded surface.By connecting ourselves to ground , we eliminate the possibility of static shock. Clearly, there are three main steps to build our own computer.
At the first steps, we need to add processor and ram to the mother board.First, we will need to unwrap the mother board and processor which comes with own fan.The processor will have one marked corner and socket. We will align the corners and drop the processor into the socket.Next, we need to put the fan in place, cinch it down with flanges on either side and lock it with a cam. We need to connect the power lead for the fan to the mother board.Next, we will install the ram with firm pressure. Look on the mother board for the slot marked “one” and firmly press the ram module into it.Now our mother board is ready to put in the case.
At these second steps, we will take all these parts inside the case.We need to install the power supply, cover plate, mother board, standoffs to hold the mother board in place. We also need to connect some wires to the mother board, exactly 15 wires.Cover plate comes with mother board for its back connector. The case already has a hole cut in it for the plate, so we will hear a click when it is in place. The plate needs to be away from the case` surface so that none of its connectors touch the case. We will accomplish this by placing spacers , which are also included with mother board.Because every mother board is different so the challenge is to get the mother board into the case and see which screw holes on the mother board are going to actually match up with the pre-drilled holes in the case. Next, make sure that the mother board lines up with plate and the holes line up with spacers. Be careful when installing screws . If we drop them into the case, they can damage the wires on the mother board. Now, we can install the power supply, the power supply has two sides. The fan side faces outside the case, the wire side faces inside. We will use screws to secure power supply. There will be an obvious connector for the mother board . Another small four pin connector gives power to CPU. Both connectors will have obvious ports .We will be left with 15 wires, it is a little confusing but we will use the manual to connect remaining wires .Also, we will connect case fan by using available wires from power supply.
At these last steps , we are installing hard drive and CD drive. The case has a removable bracket which lines up with four holes on the hard drive. Now, we will screw the hard drive into the bracket and slide hard disk into appropriate slot. Then we will connect hard disk to the power by using one of the connectors off of the power supply. Now, we will install the cable, we will align red stripe with pin one on mother board and one side of I D E slot will be marked as pin one. Next, we will install the CD drive. Again, we need to set the jumpers correctly. We need to slide the drive in and screw it into place. We have to make sure that the drive is aligned properly .Next, we can use any available power connector to connect drive .We can use supplied cable but we have to make sure that align red stripe with pin one.Next, we will connect the audio for the CD drive and lastly, we will install optical A G P video card.
Luckily, computers are surprisingly easy to build. In addition, we will not only understand our own computer completely but also save some money.Last but not least, building a computer by ourselves can be a very rewarding experience.
